Razldazl George wins 2011 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby

Razldazl George,  under the expert handling of Dolores Ruth, is the 2011 Irish Greyhound Derby champion.

Sent off the 5/2 2nd favourite George was forced to pull out all the stops to deny Dream Walker the crown in what was a tumultuous affair. His kennel mate Razldazl Bugatti, running from Trap 1, caused all sorts of problems when moving wide from the break, first hampering both Dream Walker and George and then hampering the favourite Rockchase Bullet on the 1st bend.

All the bunching around the first and second bends left the door open for the Tom O’Neill trained Dream Walker to recover from his early trouble to shoot through into a clear lead. George was the only dog to go with him off T3, and eventually ground down Dream Walker to claim the prize by the minimum of margins in 30.02. The ever consistent Krug Ninety Five yet again stayed on the best of the remainder to clinch 3rd place.

Result

1st Razldazl George 5/2

2nd Dream Walker 10/1

3rd Krug Ninty Five 8/1
